Rohenrt Park, CA – After weeks of preparation and hard work the Sonoma state Seawolves finally got to take the field against someone other than themselves. On Saturday the 11th the Seawolves matched up with the UW huskies. In the first half coach kraft’s new offense was on full display with the Seawolves scoring 10 goals. Along with strong offense the SSU defense stood strong only allowing 3 goals. In the second half the Washington offense found some momentum and put in 7 more goals while the Sonoma offense held them off by putting in 5 of their own. There were many memorable performances in this game but senior attack Connor Chenalt was awarded the game ball for his offensive achievements and his hard nosed riding of the ball.
On Sunday Sonoma came out against a very talented Oregon State team who had a very convincing win against fellow wcll team Dominican, winning 10-5.
In the first half the Seawolves were on defense for most of the time as the high-powered OSU offense put in 5 goals. Sonoma’s defense locked it down later in the half opening the door for the offense to score 3 goals of their own keeping the game close going into the half. In the second half the SSU offense came out firing making the lead smaller by the minute. Going into the fourth quarter the score was 5-6 and the Seawolves were finding quality looks at the goal eventually leading to a game-tying goal by sophomore attackman Brent Tovrea with around 12 minutes left in the game. After it was tied up the beavers went on a three goal run which made the score 9-6. Even with a late goal from the Seawolves in the final minute the win was just out of reach.
After a hard week of working on the imperfections of the last two games the Sonoma State Seawolves are primed and ready to take on the Santa Clara Broncos on Monday the 20thin Sonoma. This is the first conference game for Sonoma and the team is fired up to prove they are up to their preseason goal of winning the WCLL championship this year.
