Seawolves Ready for "Blue Collar Week" And Beyond

by Kyle Smith

After a successful fall that welcomed one of the largest recruiting classes in SSU history, the Sonoma State Men's Lacrosse team is itching to get back on the field to begin their journey into the 2025 season this spring.

With a total of 19 new players and a roster size approaching 40, the Seawolves will begin the year with more depth this season than they have had since their 2020 season was cut short due to Covid-19 just days prior to the team's spring break trip.

Each year, Noma begins their spring season with their annual "Blue Collar Week" which consists of conditioning workouts in the morning and traditional practice sessions each afternoon. The two-a-days structure of "Blue Collar Week" is designed to forge mental and physical toughness, both of which the Seawolves will need to battle their way through the WCLL, arguably the toughest conference in the entire MCLA.

It will be vital for the Seawolves to start fast, as they will face off against UC Davis at home on January 25th, after just two weeks of practices.

Junior Captain Dylan Hardy (Defense) was asked about his thoughts on "Blue Collar Week" and his expectations for the upcoming season.

"Blue Collar week is something we all look forward to every year. We know that we have to put in the work if we want to reach our ultimate goal: punching our ticket to Round Rock, Texas for Nationals in May." -Dylan Hardy

Senior Captain Mitch Stock (LSM) was asked about the difference between this team and his previous seasons. His response:

"This team is hungry. More than ever before, we have guys really putting in work on their own time in order to prepare for the upcoming season. All of the new players have fit in with the team culture really well, and we can't wait to see how this season shakes out." -Mitch Stock

The Seawolves will begin the season with home games versus UC Davis, Oregon State, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego State, and Utah Tech, before heading to Arizona for spring break to play Grand Canyon University and Arizona State

Be on the lookout for the full schedule to be released on the MCLA.us website, which will feature game times and field locations. For more team updates, be sure to follow our social media pages, including Facebook, Instagram and X accounts: @nomalax
